This module offers an introductory step to help individuals consider their wellbeing in the work place. It can be added in as a supplementary component to tailor the learning in our range of Personal Effectiveness and Leading and Management training courses.
The wellbeing module encourages participants to reflect on increasing their self-awareness, to dilute stress and ultimately increase their productivity; effectively working to become more grounded in managing their time and personal resources.
The module follows the ‘Five steps to wellbeing’ as designed by the New Economics Foundation; exploring the strong evidence that indicates that feeling close to, and valued by, other people is a fundamental human need and one that contributes to functioning well in the world.
The key message is to connect and get active. Exercise is essential for slowing age-related cognitive decline and for promoting wellbeing.
The module introduces mindfulness, as studies have shown that being aware of what is taking place in the present, directly enhances your wellbeing; by savouring ‘the moment’ we have the opportunity to reaffirm our life priorities. Also setting goals, which are related to adult learning in particular, has been strongly associated with higher levels of wellbeing.
The module also explores ‘giving’, as research indicates that individuals who report a greater interest in helping others, are more likely to rate themselves as happy.
This module will add value to individuals or teams working to improve their self-awareness and the associated benefits it brings to the workplace.
