Learning activities

The course identifies and recognises ideal leadership behaviours, engaging the participants with the need for inspiring leadership by meeting and observing the leaders from a fictional organisation. Each leader has their individual approach to leading their team through the restructure and participants experience first-hand the resulting impact.

Participants then have the opportunity to explore leadership techniques, using interactive exercises to identify communication styles and appreciate how to flex their own style appropriately. They also explore what behaviours required for inspirational leadership look and feel like using forum theatre techniques.
The final session is dedicated to embedding the learning by defining their own leadership offer and practising to flex to the needs of others. In simulated work place scenarios they will personally meet fictional stakeholders to practise inspiring leadership behaviours, whilst adapting their communication style appropriately to the individual.

Outcomes

By the end of the workshop participants will be more confident in their ability to lead and initiate new ideas and solutions. They will have a more positive influence in all their interactions with colleagues, helping to maximise the skills of valued personnel across the organisation. As a result they will be better prepared to support the organisation’s visions and values.

Focusing on open questioning techniques helped me to really listen to the responses and pick up on what I was actually hearing, it was great practice for an imminent conversation with a member of staff.
